I had the 5th Most "Viewed" Lawyer Profile on AVVO Last Week?
The lawyer networking site Avvo.com must not be getting that much traffic yet as I was listed as #5 on the Avvo Blog's "Top 10 Lawyers Viewed Last Week" post. It's just kind of odd really. I mean my profile got more traffic than the acting Attorney General - Paul Clement.
Just to dive into website statistics lingo for a sec -- I'm guessing this just measures "page views" (and not uniques) and that my one time appearance on this list is mainly due to me messing around with my entry the week before (I added to my profile many of the speeches I did earlier in the decade). Unless of course, there is a tremendous interest across the country in a mid-level bureaucrat. :)
UPDATE: A couple of interesting things have happened since this post. One when you search for "robert s. tanner" or even just "robert tanner" my AVVO page is now on the first page of Google search results. No page about or by me has ever showed up that high before on a search for my own name (don't roll your eyes -- everyone does it). I've always chalked that up the relatively common names I have - "Robert" and "Tanner" aren't as plain as "John Brown" but they're not unique like "Xaviar Xerexes" either.
Also AVVO now gives me an 8 ranking ("excellent") which I would imagine resulted from adding to my profile the speeches I have given.
UPDATE #2: Now this page (robertstanner.com) is showing up on the first page of Google results when searching for "robert s tanner" and "robert tanner" and the AVVO page seems to have slid off of the results. I'm not sure what the cause of that is, but it appears my brief bit of AVVO "fame" has catapulted upwards my once obscure personal website.
